Scotts Turf Builder Southern Triple Action is a 3-in-1 formula for Southern grass types that kills listed weeds, prevents and kills fire ants, and fertilizes your lawn. This product controls dandelion, dollarweed, clover, oxalis, plantain, chickweed, and henbit. It prevents and kills fire ants for up to 6 months, and prevents armyworms, fleas, mole crickets, chinch bugs, sod webworms, and ticks. Lastly, it feeds and strengthens your lawn against Southern stresses like heat and drought. Apply Scotts Turf Builder Southern Triple Action when weeds are actively growing. It can be applied to St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), Centipedegrass, Zoysiagrass, and Carpetgrass. We recommend using a Scotts spreader to apply this product. For Scotts broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 4 1/4. For Scotts drop spreaders, use a setting of 8 1/2. The product must be watered in immediately after application. Do not allow people and pets to re-enter the treated area until watering-in is complete and the surface is dry. One 26.64 lb. bag covers 8,000 sq. ft.

Q: You spread a liberal amount then went over with a Honda mulching mower what happens

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question regarding Scotts Turf Builder Southern Triple Action, 26.64 lb. 26008A. Mowing, aerating, thatching, rolling or raking before does not affect the application. If the lawn is tall it is best to mow before applying. This product should be watered in immediately after the application. Once the lawn is dry it can be mowed. It's a best practice, not to aerate or thatch for 4 weeks after the application. Rolling and light raking can be done once the lawn is dry.

Q: What would the setting be for uses with a groundwork’s 50lb spreader?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question regarding Scotts Turf Builder Southern Triple Action. We do not have spreader settings while using our products in a competitor spreader. The only alternative we can provide is to recommend that you apply a test area to determine the best setting for your spreader with this product. Empty the number of pounds recommended for a 1000 square feet into the spreader. Adjust the spreader to a very low setting, approximately 1/4 to 1/3 open, and spread the material over a 1000 square foot area. If you run out of material before you cover the test area, adjust the setting a notch lower; if you still have material in your hopper when you reach the end of the test area, adjust the setting a notch higher. This will give you the best setting for the product. Please contact us at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5 with any other inquiries that you may have, and we will be happy to assist you.

Good for Zoysia, Not Fescue

The Turf Builder Southern Triple Action killed sections of my lawn that were fescue. Half my lawn is Zoysia but I didn’t expect this product would kill healthy sections of fescue.

walking the line

I have applied it twice and it looks ok. I still have weeds and a few fire ant mounds. I bought it on sale and still have one more bag left. I'll apply it with a Scott's Edge Guard spreader again. I'll be looking else where if it fails again!

Killed grass too

Looks like it killed a lot of the grass in the backyard, but thankfully none in the front yard.
