I was looking for a concrete sealer for a "dusting" problem I was having with a concrete basement floor. Rutland cement floor sealer had some decent reviews, has been around for a long time (water glass) and was priced right. It took a about 1.75 gallons (diluted 4/1 with water) to cover my 625 square foot floor with two coats, it was easy to spread with a paint roller, and the odor was minimal. Floor prep consisted of sweeping, then vacuuming, and then mopping with soapy water, then letting it dry overnight. Let each coat dry completely. So far, it seems that it cured my dusting problem. I'd recommend this for that purpose.

I'm using it to seal home made low temperature fired pottery. It takes several coats on a polished piece, but so far so good. (Polishing the surface of the clay before firing it is also important on how well it seals. I don't think I'd expect it to seal more porous terracotta.

A friend of mine is adding a new two-car garage to his house. I told him about the concrete sealer and how I had used it when I built my house years ago. The floor still looked pristine when I sold it over 12 years later. I got it as a gift for him to use when the floor is poured in two weeks.

I used this at full strength as Water Glass, gluing a furnace combustion chamber into place and coating the whole chamber to give it better strength. It is a good value, and I will use the rest to seal some of my concrete.
