Item Information

Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) Canine Dewormer is for the treatment and control of Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms and Taenia Tapeworms in dogs. Safe-Guard Canine is the only over-the-counter dewormer for dogs that treats all 4 major intestinal parasites in dogs using only one drug compound, fenbendazole, minimizing your dog's chemical exposure. The daily dose for Safe-Guard Canine is 50 mg/kg (22.7 mg/lb) of body weight. Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) Canine Dewormer is safe even for puppies 6 weeks and older and pregnant female dogs. It has no known drug interactions, so it should be compatible with other medications your dog might be taking.

  • Mix the daily dose with a small amount of your dog's usual food. Your dog should eat all of the medicated food. If feeding dry dog food, it may need to be moistened to aid mixing
  • Repeat the daily dose for 3 days in a row
  • Safe for all dogs 6 weeks and older, including pregnant dogs
  • Deworming schedules may vary depending on the climate where you live and the activity of your dog.
  • Dogs readily accept Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) Canine Dewormer. When mixed in food, dogs usually eat it without fuss, which helps to ensure that they receive a complete and proper dosing.
Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitism. Approximately 1% of dogs had vomiting associated with the use of this product. Safe-Guard Canine Dewormer has no known interactions and is an ideal complement to monthly heartworm prevention products, which may not protect against all four major types of intestinal worms.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I've bought this 2-3 times now over the past few months because my dog has gotten worms after each box is finished or never completely got rid of them. I really don't recommend buying this product at all.

Can I divide up the powder and how much approx. Would I have to use per pound if I diluted it in water?

It can be divided as long as one full dose is given daily. This product is not intended to be diluted with water.

We have called the manufacture and they would suggest to reach out to your vet in this case we think that they will be able and better suited to answer this question.

This product says for use on puppies 6 weeks and older but it also says for use on 20lb dogs. I have two 8 week old puppies that are only about 3 lbs. Would it still be safe to use this on my puppies?

Asked by: CrysJohndrow
We recommend using a different product as this would be too large of a dose.
