Our pets might need protection from intestinal worms. When they do, use the Drontal Plus Dewormer Taste Tablet for Dogs to get them back to their happy, playful selves. Made with 3 active ingredients (Febantel, Pyrantel pamoate and Praziquantel) this dog dewormer works to eliminate hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms and roundworms in just one dose. The chewable form makes them easy to give to canines, and the broad-spectrum formula provides all-around protection. Available in 22.7 mg, 68 mg and 136 mg strengths of dewormer for dogs, depending on their weight. How it Works
Drontal Plus Taste Tabs contain 3 active ingredients with different action modes.
- Febantel is an ingredient that works against nematode parasites, such as whipworms. It is quickly metabolized and absorbed in the body. Available information shows that the energy metabolism of the parasite is blocked, which leads to a breakdown of energy exchange and an inhibition of glucose uptake.
- Pyrantel pamoate is an ingredient that works against ascarids and hookworms. It affects the cholinergic receptors in the nematode, which results in spastic paralysis. The peristaltic action of the pet's intestinal tract eliminates the parasite.
- Praziquantel fights against tapeworms (cestodes). It is absorbed, then metabolized by the liver and excreted through the bile. After entering the digestive tract through the bile, the activity of cestodes is exhibited. After praziquantel exposure, tapeworms lose their ability to resist digestion by the mammal's host. Due to this, whole tapeworms, complete with the scolices, are very infrequently passed following praziquantel administration. In many cases, only partially digested or disintegrated tapeworm pieces will be found in the stool. Most tapeworms are digested and will not be found in the fecal matter.
- Areas in which the animal has been maintained or areas they have made contact with should be cleaned thoroughly with sodium hypochlorite. Allow the area to completely dry prior to reuse.
- Exercise strict hygiene precautions when handling feces or dogs that may harbor E. multilocularis. Infected dogs being treated for the first time with this medication, as well as dogs being treated at intervals over 28 days, could shed eggs in their feces following treatment. These animals should be held in the clinic during treatment intervals, and their feces should be autoclaved or incinerated. If this is not possible, eggs may be destroyed by soaking feces in a solution of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) in a strength of 3.75% or more.
- Dogs dosed with elevated levels of praziquantel and febantel (for 6 consecutive days at 3 times the recommended dosage) in early pregnancy experienced increased risk of fetal abnormalities and abortion. Safety in pregnant animals has not been proven. Do not administer to pregnant animals.
- Keep away from animals and children.
