Makita delivers grinding performance with the Makita 18V LXT Lithium Ion Brushless Cordless 4-1/2-5 in. x LOCK Angle Grinder. The unique feature with this high-quality angle grinder is the X-LOCK Technology, which is a quick-change system for tool-free wheel changes. A click-mount and pull release lever make changing wheels easy. It is ideal for grinding and cutting a wide range of materials including tile, concrete, pipe, conduit, and more. This easy-to-use angle grinder is powered by a Makita-built brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The BL Brushless Motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life. The Active Feedback-sensing Technology (AFT) turns the motor off if rotation speed suddenly slows or the wheel is forced to a stop. It's part of Makita's expanding 18V LXT System, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries.

Powerful and portable

This cordless angle grinder seems to have just as much power as my old corded tool; and it is both much lighter and smaller in size. These factors make it more portable and useful than a grinder attached to an electrical cord. Makita has a whole line of cordless tools that use the same battery, so I am one happy shade tree mechanic.

I did not care for “quick lock” blade attachment. It was too hard to attach grinding blade, I prefer the using the wrench to hand tighten blades.
