Q: Would a White/Yellow spot on top of the baby chicks head be indicative of a rooster just like in the Saphire Gem birds?

Q: How can I tell a hen from a rooster When they get to 5 months
4 years ago- A: At 5 months old most breeds of chickens will be nearing maturity. Any Roosters would have brighter red combs and larger wattles that their counter part hens. Roosters also tend to display more aggressive and dominant behaviors but not always. You may see some of these signs as early as 4-8 weeks in some breeds but others may take much longer. Crowing is also a telling sign, that may start early on. So in summary, early comb and wattle development, aggressive or dominant behavior or crowing can be indicators, but not always. The true sign is when mature you will see an egg from a hen and the Rooster will crow.4 years agoHelpful?
