The chicks arrived healthy and vibrant and have blossomed in the two weeks since the arrived. Nothing about the quality of the birds troubles me whatever. My complaint? Not that Hoover's chose the rare selection, but that they did NOT tell me what I got. So, when they arrived, I had 3 grey, turning lavender. Maybe Lavender Orps. But since then, one has darkened. So what is he? I have 4 dark ones that could be anything of a half dozen breeds. And 3 "chipmonk" looking ones, one of which has turned grey. So, what are they? I have no idea what I got. And even though I agreed to get what they sent, I would truly have appreciated them TELLING ME what they were. Both sex and breed would have been fabulous. Just knowing which breeds they were would have been super. And since THEY knew, why would they not have tossed a page into the, or pasted onto, the crate telling me what I got?

I was quite upset to find out that my chicks shipped out the night we got a blizzard. It was way too cold! Upon arrival the extra chick had died and one was pretty close to it and died the following night. So now 9 remain. I was slightly disappointed when I found my "mix" only had 2 different breeds. And I received no packing slip that told me what they were. Through research it appears that I received 2 light Brahmas or salmon favorelles and the others were all marans. Not what I would consider a "mix". I will probably just pay the extra money next year at a hatchery so I can be selective in what I get.

I got 10 barred rock chicks. If I was to just buy that instead of the assortment it would be 20$ cheaper. Would not buy again.

Hi Patrick, we cannot guarantee the number of different breeds sent in any assortments as they are based on what is hatched and available for each ship date. We try our best to have 2-3 breeds available for these assortments at each hatch. There are quite a few breeds that look very similar as chicks, so sometimes it is hard to tell which you have until they are feathered out more.

didn’t receive one rare breed

I paid the extra for some rare chicks and received normal common chicks. I’ve reached out to support at TSC and every time I mentioned a complaint I get ignored. So I asked a random question and got a response but when I re directed back to the chicks complaint I get ignored again. The chicks I received are all healthy and thriving though. No complaints there just with being sent no RARE breeds and now being ignored by TSC support team.

Horrible experience

The baby chicks ship from Pennsylvania instead of Iowa as the hatchery website shows. They shipped on a Monday evening. Thursday morning weren't near my location. Friday morning got a call from post office of a box of birds. Picked up a box of 10 dead birds. Not sure if this is all USPS fault or partially the hatchery. Reordered. The are now showing shipped on a Monday again and are showing delivery of Friday. I dont know who to contact about this stupidity. Im sure I'll receive 10 more dead chickens this Friday as well. Someone needs to figure out this problem!
