Item Information

Barred Rocks are as beautiful and productive as they are easy to care for. In 1620 a travel-weary band of Pilgrims set foot on Plymouth Rock. Years later an ideal backyard chicken breed was named in honor of this famous site. They link the flock owner with American history while yielding abundant eggs and tasty meat. In bygone days when nearly every farm had a chicken flock, the utility and beauty of these birds made them the breed of choice. Few birds are as stunningly regal as a Plymouth Rock strolling across a summer lawn. with a New England heritage, they don't let January's blizzards interrupt laying. Calm and docile birds, they make a great addition to the backyard flock. Both cold and heat tolerant, they also do well in confinement and are great foragers.

How long until chicks are shipped?

Asked by: Rhcolwell

Are your chicks Vaccinated for Mareks when shipped to the store? I need to know if i need to vaccinate my chicks.

Asked by: casshill01

So if I buy the unsexed product will there be more females since the males are not as favored

Asked by: Chick favorour
Unsexed are just that. They have never been sexed and are taken directly from hatch baskets to the boxes. There is no way of telling the ration of males to females. In general most breeds will produce close to the 50/50 ratio

How do the chicks stay warm when shipping

Asked by: Chick favorour
Chicks stay warm in general because they generate heat from their bodies of 100 degrees or more. In extreme weather conditions boxes can be modified to close some of the holes as well as use of insulation on the bottom of the boxes, double padding or heat packs. These tools help the babies stay warmer
