While Wyandottes were first developed in New York State in the early 1870's, Blue-Laced Red Wyandottes originated some time later. Blue-Laced Red Wyandotte Chickens aren't all show with their elegantly patterned black and brown feathers. They are also great egg layers of cream to light tan eggs and are good winter layers! The Wyandotte hens begin to lay between 5-6 months of age with adequate daylight hours. These blue-laced red hens can be broody and if allowed to sit, and make excellent mothers. Famous for their docile friendly nature, showy good looks and dual-purpose utility, these Wyandotte chickens remain popular today. Rose combs, fluffy, dense plumage and good body size make them well suited to cold climates. Wyandottes are one of the most strikingly beautiful chickens to grace a backyard flock. They are an excellent dual-purpose breed particularly suited for cold winters and are a great addition to any flock!

Healthy & Happy Chicks!

This was the 2nd time I have ordered online and even though the first order went flawlessly and all 10 are still happy and healthy, I was nervous about ordering these babies. I was certain that there was no way I would receive 10 healthy and alive chicks 2 orders in a row......but I did! None of these babies were even remotely ill when they arrived and 5 days later they are still doing great! Highly recommend ordering from TSC/Hoover's!

NOT the healthiest chicks

I purchased 10 BLRW, NOT sure WHAT exactly I received as they are still growing but I do NOT think they are ALL BLRW as 2 are BLACK (I've NOT seen any BLACK BLRW chicks} and 1 is gray with stripe/spots. LOST 4 chicks within 24 hours of receipt! (I've raised OVER 100 chicks THIS year and have lost a TOTAL of 12 babies including these.) I WILL FIND A DIFFERENT HATCHERY TO BUY FROM OR A LOCAL BREEDER! I watched ONE of the peeps fall over and was not able to flip back over, BEFORE I could pick it up it died.

Questionable quality

These chicks grew very slow. Ordered another set of Wyandottes from another hatchery that arrived day old the same day and they grew twice as fast. By the time the others were full feathered these still had 80% chick fuzz! I have never seen chicks feather so slow in my life. All were raised together since they arrived, ended up separating the smallest least feathered birds after about 60 days for fear they may get pecked at. One has a single comb so they're not pure bred Wyandotte, coloring is decent on some and aweful on others. We only lost 2 of the 10 total which is surprising. We’re few months in and I’m not convinced some of these aren’t crossed with a bantam variety they are still much smaller than the others of the same breed and age once they finally feathered out. We have 4 that are good quality healthy birds of the correct size and confirmation, the other 4 that survived are either not passible as a Wyandotte or very small or very poor quality color. 3 stars average. I would not order birds from this hatchery if you’re looking for any kind of dependable result.
