Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best log splitter This log splitter is fantastic! For years we have rented one once a year and had a splitting party. This year we have more to cut and decided to buy. The 30 ton is absolutely the way to go. A little more expensive but worth it! We have used a 25 ton in the past and it’s done well but this cuts nearly everything! It has cut 25-30 inch logs of ash. We defiantly love it and recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good rugged splitter Other than gas, ready to run right from the store. Easy to tow, easy to start, easy to use. Built rugged. Fairly fast ram, my son and I split two ranks of wood in an hour. I've used it for four hours now with no complaints. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My helper greatly appreciates. Made things so much easier & quicker. Split what would have taken us all day in about an hour & a half. Only 2 things I see that could be changed for the better. Electric start & a jack instead of the "kick stand".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great splitter! Great great splitter. I’ve used several different brands over the years and so far this one has been the best! It’s really fast for a hydraulic splitter. Most others are substantially slower. 10 second stroke with 30 tons of pressure is awesome. So far I’ve split 6 full cords. Stringy elm, white oak crooks, hickory and hard hack and red oak. If it doesn’t split it, it just shears it! The Koehler engine starts on the first pull every time. The splitter is well balanced on its axel and I can move it around by hand easy enough on level ground. It tows and tracks smoothly on the road as well. It comes with all fluids and a log carrier which makes this a great value in my opinion. Highly recommend and I’d buy it again in a heart beat!

Can this splitter use a four point wedge for quartering the log on the first split?

Unfortunately at the moment 4-way wedges are not available. They will be made available in the future but there is no ETA on this as of now.

How long are you supposed to run it before changing the oil what kind of oil goes back when changed?

Asked by: Country girl 1974
The Kohler Engines are filled with Kohler SAE10W-30 engine oil form the factory for the break in period. Use proper oil for temperature expected. After first 5 hours of use change oil then every 50 hours of use oil needs to be changed. The log splitter was prefilled with 9.8 gallons of AW32 hydraulic oil before shipping. AW46 & universal hydraulic oil are all acceptable types of fluid. Automatic transmission fluid can be used when operating in temperatures below 32 degrees to enhance engine starting.

When checking hydraulic fluid does the dipstick plug need to be screwed in or just set in place?

Asked by: Steve23
It is recommended checking the fluid with the dip stick screwed in, while the machine is cold. As long as the fluid is above the low line, it is within the specified range. The fluid does not need to be to the high mark on the dip stick.
