Q: how much ground will a bag cover?

1 Answer
  • A: Here is the response from the manufacturer: "TerraThrive Worm Castings Vermicompost is not a general soil amendment that should be broadly applied. It is a precision biofertilizer that should be placed into the root zone during planting. When mixed into soil media (pots and containers), it should approximate 10 percent of the soil by volume. This will enable the abundant beneficial microbes to work hand-in-hand with fertilizer/nutrients to improve nutrient uptake efficiency, increase root mass, and reduce the effect of abiotic stresses such as heat and drought. The customer should look to the Soil Health Pyramid for guidance on building healthy, fertile soil to support and improve plant performance. The Soil Health Pyramid tells us to add organic matter/compost/mulch (30% by volume) to improve soil composition, add an organic, slow-release fertilizer geared to the plants being grown, and place TerraThrive Worm Castings Vermicompost into the root zone of new plants or mix approximately 10% into garden soil or soil media. I would suggest visiting us for more information and useful tips at terravesco.com, and reviewing the Soil Health Pyramid, Soil Learning Center and our Regenerative Gardening Instructional Video Series under the Gardeners tab."

    Great fertilizer

I read that putting a handful of worm castings in hanging baskets will give a constant dose of nutrients to the flowers. Water based fertilizers just flow through and out the bottom. I also put some of the castings around each of my plants in my landscape islands.

I love that the bag is resealable. It’s very convenient to use little by little. I mix it with coconut coir as a seed starting mix.
