Another great starter metal lathe with more capacity than typical benchtop lathes! The G9972Z Bench Lathe is a specially designed machine is an outstanding value and able to take on light duty jobs requiring a 10-1/2" swing, a 25mm spindle bore, and 26" between centers.

And with a 1 HP motor, you'll be able to make quick work of even the most challenging jobs.

The primary purpose of the G9972Z is to make concentric cuts in metal stock. With the lathe, round stock can be made perfectly concentric, threaded, drilled, knurled, bored, tapered, etc.

Square stock can be made into precision round shafts used for axles, spindles, leadscrews, punches, etc.

Feeds and threads to the left only.

The optional G9973, T27838, or T27839 Cabinet Stands allow for a more organized and stable base for turning operations. This is an awesome value and a lot of lathe for a hobby machinist!

Like all Grizzly lathes, the G9972Z comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and assuring the unit is free from factory defects.

The G9972Z manual was written by our U.S. based Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your lathe.

    A capable home shop lathe.

Been running this lathe for about 3 years. Overall a very capable lathe for the home shop DIY'er. The assembly and adjustments from the factor were extremely poor. Took a lot of work and some minor modifications to get all the slides precisely fitted and adjusted. The belt drive system was badly misaligned and the belts fit were terrible. After modifying the main pulley mount bracket I got everything aligned and the belts now fit perfect. The gearbox functions very well. The ways were ground very good, and my carriage traverses smoothly. For the money it's a good value. If your mechanically skilled it's a great lathe that will serve you well. If your a beginner your going to have frustrations.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

this machine works ok after taking apart compound slide and polishing very poor machine work.turned it on and it spit out a bolt that went thru the gears. so far can`t find where it goes must be an extra.am disappointed in belt changing also would be nice with variable speed. other than that i might grow to like it . jim eckart
