A precise lathe with a spider mount and DRO. The G0776 13" x 40" Gunsmithing Lathe with DRO is called a "gunsmithing" lathe because it has features typically not found on standard lathes, such as a "spider" mount system and a large 1.57" (40mm) spindle bore.

The spider is especially designed for supporting gun barrels during chambering operations; however, it is a great support option for almost any long workpiece that extends through the outboard end of the spindle.

Supplied with a 2 HP motor, the 8-speed gearhead of the G0776 produces spindle speeds from 70-2000 RPM.

This lathe features a 200 series quick-change tool post. Tool holders can be quickly loaded and unloaded using the lock lever and rotated by loosening the top nut.

The G0776 includes a two-axis digital readout, so accuracy and precision are ensured!

Grizzly gunsmithing lathes feature a foot brake that also acts as a safety device and can bring the machine to an quick stop.

The G0776 also comes with a D1-4 spindle, halogen work light, flood coolant system and a pull-out chip tray.

Like all Grizzly gunsmithing lathes, the G0776 comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and assuring the unit is free from factory defects.

The G0776 manual was written by our U.S. based Documentation Department.

The Grizzly Technical Support team is U.S. based. Parts and accessories for the lathe may be available online and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

All-in-all, a pretty good little machine.

I have been running the legs off this lathe for about three months now. I have turned some 4" dia 303 stainless steel without any problem. I was able to take 1/4" of the diameter at a time without bogging down. I believe that is about the limit of what this machine can do, though. This is not a heavy-duty machine, but if used correctly, it can do some larger work. The only issue I have had so far was when I switched the back gears to chase an M20 X 2.5 metric thread. The key and spacer on the feed input shaft are not designed very well. If you want to chase metric threads, you will have to shorten the key and figure out how to put the spacer in behind the driven gear to make everything fit. But it is not a big deal. I have been very happy with the repeatability of this lathe. With the DRO, I get only .0002" variation from part to part. Way better than I expected. Also, right out of the box, this lathe turns on centers with less than .0003" taper. The coolant system needs some TLC. I had some problems with the supply line coming out of the pump getting under the return chute to the tank. This caused a bunch of coolant to get on the floor. A little replumbing with an elbow cured that. Also, the coolant hose on the top of the machine was a bit of a pain. I replaced that with some Loc-Line segmented coolant line, and all is well now. All-in-all, a pretty good little machine.
