Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy, Healthy Babies These are our first chickens, and we couldn't be happier with how well the process went! Ordered on a Thursday, they shipped on Monday, and we picked them up Wednesday at 9am. Ordered 10 and received 12 -- a couple were clearly a little groggier than the rest when we first put them in the brooders, but within hours they were perking up, and the next day they're just as chipper as the rest. Upon first arrival, I gave my chicks water with the electrolyte enhancement, and I've been feeding them fermented chick feed. They LOVE the fermented stuff -- peck around at the dry, but absolutely gobble the fermented feed down. We're even sharing their journey on Instagram (@oak_abode). I know they're always fragile at this age, but we're super happy to have 12/12 energetic, eating, drinking, running peepers. Thanks Tractor Supply!

How old are the chicks by the time they would make it to your home? 1 day? 4 day roughly?

Asked by: Hawkwarn
Per Hoover's: Chicks are shipped the day they are hatched and sent US Priority mail. No matter where chicks are shipped in the United States it will never take more than 48 hours to arrive. Most arrive no more than between 24-36 hours based on region.

I bought 10 "female" chicks. 8 survived, of those 8, four of them appear to be male. How do I solve this?

Asked by: TLCamp
Please call 641-323-6100 and we can help with this. We generally ship 12 chicks. It is extremely rare when ordering females to receive any males let alone half. Our sexing ration is consistently above 95% over a history of 75 years

How old are the chicks? Can they go right into coop or need incubated conditions? Thanks

Asked by: Tradigue
All chicks are shipped the day they are hatched so will never be more than 48 hours old when they arrive. They will need to be under a heat lamp at least 95 degrees the first few days and then gradually reduce by a degree until fully feathered. We have a chick care guide link on the site to review prior to ordering
