Curious, Friendly, Exuberant

Rhode Island may be America's smallest state but the breed developed there in the late 1880's made huge changes in chicken husbandry. The Rhode Island Red's amazing ability to lay about 265 eggs a year made it famous worldwide and became the parent of several modern hybrid egg layers. These glossy mahogany- colored hens with black tail feathers are as beautiful as they are gentle and productive. Exuberant, Curious and Friendly, these are great birds to add to your backyard flock. Hens begin to lay as early as 6 months of age, and make protective mothers. Perhaps the most productive layers of all the dual-purpose breeds, they do well in confinement but prefer to free range.Guarantee of 90% accuracy on all sexed poultry.

2.5 years later and still going strong

We bought the 10 RI reds in October of 2018. Never had chickens before so we were new! The shipped quickly and I got the call to come pick them up at our main PO. We opened the box to find they shipped 12 - we realized they had figured some would not survive the trip. I had either googled or the Hatcher suggested dipping their beaks in sugar water as soon as you get them. We did that and gave it to them several times that first day along with normal water available in the warmer cage. They ship out at 1 day old and they usually arrive in 2 days so they are new! We thought some may not make it, but our kids kept watch closely that first 24 hrs and any that were sluggish got a beak dip of the sugar water. They all survived. The ladies will be 3 this year and they are doing quite well!!! We have had a great experience and would order again if we needed a large group. If they arrive dead, the hatchery will fix it with you. But for all those loosing them after arrival, I’d suggest the sugar water. The hatchery will still fix it with you if some just don’t make it after arrival. I hope you all have the good experience we had!

Very poorly shipped

I was so sad. Out of 10 chicks, 2 were dead on arrival, 2 died the next day. I got a refund for the 4 chicks, and then the next day 3 more died. I ended up with 3 chicks total. They were packed into a tiny box, no food, water or heat pack (unlike other places I’ve ordered from.) I will not be ordering again.

Poor Quality

My 10 Chicks shipped out in a 10 by 10 box on the 18th of March. I picked them up on the 211st 0f March. No food or water to the chicks. One was dead on arrival, and I have lost 3 more already and it is only 3:15pm on the 21st.

No, I do not recommend this product.

11 in box 1 DOA then 5 more die

Not sure what happened, brooded several flocks. 1 DOA, then 5 more died. 11 came in box so I ended up with 5. Went to store and bought 4 more and all seem good and healthy.
