- A: No. Chicks should have a brooding area at least 105-degrees for the first hour and lower the temperature to 95-degrees over the next few hours. You can lower the temperature by lifting the heat lamp. Chicks should be in a brooding area that has a surface temperature of 90- 95-degrees for the first week. Q: Should I not have been told any special treatment or care if sold Cornish cross. I specifically said I wanted pretty back yard chickens for free range and egg laying and I was sold 7 Cornish cross. I had no clue anything about them until I noticed growth.

- A: No they are not, there are certain breeds offered on TSC website that you can purchase with vaccinations. Demand is extremely high right now, and chicks are selling quickly on the website. Please keep checking back for the availability if you are looking for vaccinated chicks. If you have never had Marek's disease on your property, typically you wouldn't need to vaccinate for this, other than for peace of mind. If your birds were to get Coccidiosis, this is treatable. - A: Hi Shane, Cornish Cross are hybrid meat birds and aren’t intended for reproduction. If you’re looking to be self-sufficient, Cornish Cross aren’t the right breed. You’d need to switch to a slower-growing, dual-purpose or heritage breed if you want birds you can hatch and raise yourself.a year agoHelpful?

I ordered these chicks last week and they shipped from Pennsylvania, I figured there would be many dead birds since I live in Arkansas, but I was wrong. I picked them up from the post office today with all of them alive and they are doing good

2 chicks died within the first 2 days, 1 within 2 hours of receiving them. I have a lot of experience raising chicks, ao know it was not the care rhey received. Sent an email to TCS asking how to receive either a credit or replacement and never received a response.
