Don't let their size fool you. These small, tapered peppers may only be an in. or two long, but they are up to 100 times hotter than Jalapeno Peppers, sizzling in at 100,000 to 300,000 on the Scoville heat scale. Fruits ripen from green to orange and have a wrinkled appearance. Use in hot sauce or pepper jelly, or grind (carefully!) to make pepper flakes.

Habanero Hot Pepper plant rocks!

One little habanero plant produced an abundance of small orange hot peppers in our Zone 7a garden on eastern long island. They are all about 1.5" wide and 2" or less in height. I'm super thrilled with this mighty plant and will be buying another next year.
