Item Information

Do you just need to disconnect the bottom live wire because the grass is too high? Zareba created a high quality cutout switch for that purpose. Use the Zareba Cutout Switch to switch off selected electric wires on a fence such as the lowest live wire when the grass is high and would interfere with the electric fence. The handle protects contacts.

Zareba Cut-Out Switch is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality- not durable This switch is of overall low quality and durability. While the stainless steel arm is very durable, it is mounted to a very flimsy plastic piece that is easily broken. When I say easily, I mean incredibly easily broken. I would suggest Tractoe Supply carry high quality Gallagher switches as an option to this switch. I noted that you now carry an American Farm Works brand switch, replacing the Zareba brands. The Farm Works switch is the IDENTICAL switch, clearly made by the same manufacturer and containing the same fatal flaws. While installing one of these switches yesterday, it broke while tightening up the wiring to the switch; and it broke despite my being ever so careful recognizing its weak plastic structure. This switch is absolute JUNK.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible, plastic breaks after little use. I have now gone through several of these in the last 4 years. I bought mine at Tractor Supply. Find a better cutout switch, this one will break. It almost always breaks where the plastic cradle's the base of the arm. Frequent on/off maneuvers cause pressure on the plastic socket that holds the nut in place. It breaks and its then worthless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not For Real Farm Use We've tried this product over and over with the hopes that the quality would improve but alas, it has not. As others have stated that the base is plastic, weak, poorly made, and definitely not intended for severe weather installations. I now have extraneous parts from over 10 of these blades that I use for other projects as both the base and the handles tend to crack, split, and come apart. Do not use this product for standard or heavy farm use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No problems Thankfully I read the reviews of the others stating the issues with the switch, which helped me avoid the issues they had. One of the terminals comes with a nylon insert lock nut. It is imperative that you do not overtighten this nut; tighten this nylon lock nut as tight as you can with your fingers and then give it another sixteenth of a turn with a wrench. If you over tighten this lock nut, you will surely experience the same problems as the other reviewers that gave it a 1. After tightening the nut as described above, I cycled the switch on and off about 100 times to make sure the nylon lock nut did not work itself loose; it worked good. Best of Luck!
