If all the lights on the tester are illuminated during a no load test, that is showing the energizer has a great output and is working correctly. Ridiculous. Spent about $30 on this tester and right out of the package it failed to work. I spent approximately an hour finding different solutions and it still did not work. I tested this device on two different fences and both times it failed to work. I will note, both fences were hot so that was definitely not the problem. Will be returning this product immediately.
No, I do not recommend this product.

We're sorry to hear the indicator lights are difficult to see. The brightness of the LEDs can vary depending on the fence voltage and ambient lighting, so the tester is easiest to read in shaded conditions. To verify the tester is working properly, try testing it on a fence with a known voltage and make sure the probe is inserted firmly into the ground while the tester tip makes good contact with the fence wire. If the lights still appear unusually dim under these conditions, the tester may not be functioning correctly. We'd like the opportunity to help determine the cause and get this resolved.
