Q&As

1 - 10 of 40 Questions

Q: What can feed to ducks and guinea fowl? They're in the same pen, and I want to give them a crumble feed they can both eat.

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, Feed this product to laying ducks, geese, quail, pheasants, guinea hens, turkeys and chukars as the sole ration at the onset of egg production (this age will vary by species). Seasonal layers should be switched from this product to DuMOR® All Flock feed when egg production has stopped for the season. They can be transitioned back onto this product when egg production starts again in the spring.

Q: It says not for roosters, but I would like to know how you would go about separating food for a rooster when they are in the same pen.

1 Answer
  • A: Roosters require higher protein and less calcium than laying hens. We recommend a separate diet of Purina® Flock Raiser® as rooster feed to help keep them strong. To do this, you can either feed roosters in a separate pen or raise one of the feeders so only the roosters can reach it.

Q: Why does it state not to feed male birds

1 Answer
  • A: A rooster’s diet should only contain around 1% calcium. A layer feed contains between 3.25 and 4.5% calcium. The levels of calcium in a layer feed or more than what a rooster needs and can lead to kidney damage and death if that is what he is being fed.

Feeding the lawn and composting

Great to use as organic material in compost pile and lawn maintenance. Does not encourage birds to feed on yard, but breaks down to feed the lawn. I combine it with Humichar to feed my lawn. Also use this product in my compost pile to break down and get "eaten" by the active ingredients.
