Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Goat Feed Our goats love this feed. We normally use Lucas and had not found anything that compared to it when we would run short from our deliveries from our local feed store. Now we always supplement with Purina Goat Feed from Tractor Supply when we run short between scheduled deliveries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, Can't go wrong with Purina. Great quality, Can't go wrong with Purina. Although I often go for a local mix from a mill that is less expensive and mix it in, along with Timothy Pellets, to stretch the feed and the price.

Is this good for Pigmy goats also?

Asked by: Donna1960
Thanks for choosing Purina. The Goat Chow may be fed to pygmy goats as well. If they are male goats, we would suggest a better product would be the Purina Goat Grower pellet which has the added ammonium chloride.

I’m confused. Should I choose Goat Feed or Goat Grower for my adult Pygmy x Nigerian Dwarf pet goats? I have three wethers and a doe. They have free choice hay, a mineral block and loose minerals, and clean water available at all times.

Asked by: Cardinal_Corgi
Thanks for choosing Purina. For the smaller breeds that are castrated males, you may want to choose the Goat Grower for the added ammonium chloride. Providing a feed which contains a urinary acidifier such as ammonium chloride can aid in addressing stone formation. Later castration, plentiful water and salt, good forage, and exercise are all good management techniques. The condition is seen far more often in confined goats on high-energy diets than in pastured animals consuming large amounts of forage and getting considerable exercise moving around. You may read more about this on our purinamills.com homepage and search for the article "Urinary Calculi in Goats."

Is this product harmful to sheep?

Asked by: Lulu 2372
The Purina Goat Chow is labeled for feeding only to goats. Since this does have added copper, we do not recommend feeding to sheep. The copper will be too high for the sheep's nutrient needs.

I have a child with a life threatening allergy to nuts& peanuts. Does this fed contain any peanut or nut ingredients?

Asked by: Stell stell
We cannot guarantee our ingredients have not come in contact with peanuts or tree nuts. And, some of our manufacturing plants will contain peanut hulls as we do use this as an ingredient source in the southern region of the United States in some livestock products. Please call us at 800-227-8941 if you have additional questions.

What is the difference between the "Goat Feed - All Life Stage" and the medicated "Grower"? I am fighting an infection and the vet recommended a medicated feed. I have 3 adults and 3 kids. How long do they stay on it?

Asked by: MJG38
Thanks for choosing Purina. The Purina Goat Chow goat feed is not medicated. The Grower may be medicated with a coccidiostat that is abbreviated as DQ or RM. This labeled for use with building up immunity to coccidia in a young, growing goat. If you have a parasite infestation or an infection of some sort, you will want to get the medication from a veterinarian to first treat the issue.
