Q: Is 16% enough for layers?

1 Answer
  • A: For laying hens the protein level should be 16% for laying hens. The only time they will need more protein is when they are molting then it jumps 17%% during the molt period which is 6 weeks. They also need less calcium during this period so we recommend an all flock type of feed that is higher protein and less calcium.

Crushed & Crumbled!

This is the third time we received a bag of Dumor chicken feed PELLET that was mostly crushed to the point of being powder. We switched from the store brand because we kept finding moldy pellets in the bags. At first the dumor feed was fine but lately we've been getting mostly crumbs and powder. Since my husband dumps it into a container before noticing the problem, we go ahead and use it anyway because it would be to difficult to put in back in the bag to return it. Not sure if it is an issue with Dumor or tractor supply, but we are no longer going to buy our feed there.

Quality Degretation

Been using Dumor for years with no problems until this last year. 3 bags in a row are moldy and discolored. We get the pellets for our girls and the last year there has been more and more fine powder in the bags. Not acceptable
