Q: can i use this for my chickens?

1 Answer
  • A: We don't recommend cross specie use due to varying nutrient requirements; while you can feed duck feed to laying hens, the amount of calcium in the feed is not sufficient to support egg production. You would need to supplement the feed with oyster shell to provide enough calcium to support egg production

Q: I want to avoid ANGEL WING in my ducks. What is the recommended feed protocol? Is the 22% protein feed too high?

1 Answer
  • A: We recommend that you use a 19 or 20% protein feed for the ducks to avoid angel wing. If you are going to use the 22% duck feed, then only for the first 14 days of life and then switch to DuMOR 20% Duck Pellets.

1 Answer
  • A: To encourage mallards to eat duck feed, start by offering it in a location they frequent, like near water or where they're already foraging.Initially, offer smaller portions and mix it with familiar foods like cracked corn or birdseed to entice them.

Poor Pellet Quality

I wanted to like DuMOR pelleted feed because of the convenient price point, but the abysmal milling quality completely ruins any upfront cost savings. The structural integrity of the pellets is incredibly poor, resulting in a frustrating amount of "fines" out of every bag—frequently leaving 10% or more of the feed pulverized into a fine powder. Because ducks physically cannot scoop up or digest this heavy dust efficiently, my flock rejects it, leading to a massive amount of clogged feeders and wasted product thrown out on the ground. It is simply not worth the mess or the waste, and I will be switching back to a premium, cleanly milled alternative like Purina that actually holds its shape.
