We tried to switch to a less expensive option, and our chickens practically QUIT laying. Switched back and production is back up. There is no doubt that this feed gives them what they need. It’s worth the extra cost.

I have raised 2 flocks of layers on this feed. They did wonderfully. Very productive hens, and the eggs were beyond amazing. Thick, dark orange yolks and SO tasty. Then, about the time the product packaging changed, the feed did, too. It looked and smelled different, and my girls didn't eat it as well as they had previously. I kept buying it, because it had been really good feed. Production dropped off, and the quality of our eggs did, too. We went from thick, dark yolks and good whites, to thin everything. The yolks so thin you couldn't break an egg into a skillet without the yolk breaking, too. Yolks were as pale as a store bought white egg. The girls were healthy. No parasites, red, pretty combs and wattles. I changed feed brands. We're back to having amazing eggs, with good production. I don't know what happened to this feed, but I hope it wasn't a case of using inferior quality ingredients to cover the cost of the pretty feed bag.
