Compressed Bale

The Standlee Premium Western Forage Premium Alfalfa Grab and Go Compressed Hay Bale is made from high quality sun-cured forage that has been double compressed compared to traditional string bales, saving storage space, and shrink-wrapped, to limit mess. Standlee Premium Western Forage alfalfa hay is moderately high in protein, high in calories, and digestible fiber, giving your horse the energy it needs to perform. Available in approximately 50 lb. bales. The hay contains 16% protein content. It's also stomach friendly with calcium levels that can reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.

  • 16% Protein - high protein level ideal choice for performance horses
  • Low in carbohydrates - great option for insulin-resistant or carb sensitive animals
  • Natural forage length - mimics grazing, slows intake, stimulates chewing and minimizes digestive upset, may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices
  • Stomach Friendly - calcium levels can reduce the risk of stomach ulcers
  • Sun-cured -retains maximum nutritional value and freshness, ensuring optimal health benefits for your horse
  • Made in USA - made in Idaho with care with the highest-quality forage in the USA
  • 30-day guarantee
  • 50 lb. bale size
  • Suitable for all life stages

Q: Are the compressed bales cut into flakes

1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Hi there! Yes, the compressed bales are baled in 4' x 4' x 8' bales and contain flakes, just as a smaller hay bale would. The large bale is placed into our press, horizontally cut twice, weighed, compressed, and secured with bands.

Q: Can chickens eat this

Q: Has this hay been sprayed with ANY pesticide or weed killers?

1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Standlee Premium Western Forage applies herbicides and pesticides on an occasional basis, typically every two to three years, rather than annually. It’s important to emphasize that Roundup and Grazon are not used in our farming practices. Alfalfa Herbicides: Sencor (metribuzin), Select (Clethodim), or Raptor (ammonium salt) – Only one herbicide is used per year, depending on the specific weeds targeted and the growth stage of the crop. Insecticides: Mustang Max (S-Cyano) and Lorsban (chlorpyrifos) are applied once or twice annually as needed.

Tasty hay for my mare

I bought this for my adopted Arabian mare. Our hay isn't the best and this was to supplement that. Well she loves it! All other horses in barn get Standlee alfalfa pellets. But Belle gets the hay. I am so happy with it and she is too.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Convenient and mess free

I love how convenient and mess free these compressed bales are. I got these to supplement the hay that my boarding barn feeds and also use it if I’m traveling. The hay is high quality and my guy seems to like it. It’s more expensive than normal bales so I wouldn’t feed it exclusively but it’s a great option if you need convenience.

Yes, I recommend this product.

These bales are super convenient and I love that they don’t make a mess in my car. I use it to supplement the hay provided by my boarding facility. It’s high quality and my guy seems to like it. It’s definitely more expensive than normal bales but it’s good when convenience is needed.

Yes, I recommend this product.
