Item Information

Premium Alfalfa/Timothy Pellets are high density, 1/4 inch pellets of Standlee Premium Western Forage. This mix combines two of the most popular forages fed to horses in a blend that is moderate to low in protein and sugar.

Ingredients:

Naturally Sun-Cured Premium Western Alfalfa Forage, Naturally Sun-Cured Premium Western Timothy Grass Forage

Feeding Directions:

On average most horses comfortably consume 2% of their body weight in dry forage per day. This equates to 20 lb. of dry forage per day for a 1000 lb. horse. Standlee recommends that you weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount. Standlee also recommends that pelleted and cubed forage not be the sole source of forage since feeding some long-stem forage (hay) may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices. Feed Standlee Premium Western Forage at a minimum rate of 1.5% of body weight per day. Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee Premium Western Forage over a 7-10 day period. Replace existing hay on a 1 to 1 basis with Standlee Premium Western Forage. Standlee Premium Western Forage is recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minutes or until properly softened, for horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed. Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses. Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water. If you have questions, please contact the nutritionists at Standlee Premium Western Forage, or consult with your veterinarian.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horses are looking very good. I am adding this along with my hay, to give more nutrition for winter. It is helping to keep my horses in better condition, with the cold coming. I recommend Standlee Hay Premium Western Forage Premium Alfalfa/Timothy Pellets for use in older horses that need something extra to help keep their weight up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Alfalfa/timothy pellets This has been a substitute for actual hay flakes, as I have aging horses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best for my toothless seniors This has saved my 35+ o/y old mini stallion's life. His teeth have been too worn to chew for years. The quality and nutritional values are as good as you can get and pure, without additives so I can add supplements as or if needed for current condition. I tried other forages but have seen the best results with Standlee pellets that I can soak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supplement I use this to help my OTTB who struggles keeping on weight. 1 cup twice a day.

What is the sugar and starch content?

Asked by: this is painfull
Thank you for your question. Standlee does not test each batch as it is made, we test our fields, we are required by law to guarantee protein, fat, fiber and moisture, we are not required to guarantee non-structured carbs (WSC & Starch). We can provide you with a 5-year average of what the mineral levels are of the Alfalfa/Timothy Pellets. All values are based on “As Fed Basis”. The estimated NSC% of the Standlee Alfalfa/Timothy Pellets are 10%. Thank you

Can I give this to my Holland Lop rabbit instead of hay?

Asked by: Danielle926
Standlee Premium Western Forage does not recommend that you purchase the Bagged Pellets or Cubes, Compressed or Grab and Go bales for your small animals, as they are graded for livestock. Standlee Premium Western Forage has a small animal line; in which we recommend feeding these products to small animals. JOJO’S BEST Premium Forage can be fed to rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, prairie dogs and other herbivores. Feed JOJO’S BEST Premium Forage along with the vitamin and mineral fortified feed specific to these animals. In essence, the product is all grown the same, however we select and grade each stack according to small animal or livestock.
