Compressed Bale

Premium Orchard Grass Compressed Bales are formed by allowing Standlee Premium Western Forage to grow to the proper stage of maturity, cutting the plants, allowing them to sun-cure (dry) to an acceptable moisture level and baling the forage at the optimal time. Standlee Premium Western Forage creates compressed bales of forage from a large 4'x4'x8' bale that is put through a press, sliced horizontally, pushed onto a scale, weighed, compressed and then banded. Orchard Grass forage is typically slightly higher in protein and calories compared to Timothy and can be moderate to high in sugar content. Forages are nonperishable and can last for long periods of time if stored properly. Always store forages in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. As long as the product is properly stored, forages can last for well over a year or more. Available in approximately 50 lbs. bales.

Q: Do you spray the hay with any type of fertilizer or round up to dry it faster?

1 Answer
  • A: Standlee Premium Orchard Grass Compressed Hay Bales are all-natural and not sprayed with Roundup (glyphosate) or chemical desiccants to speed up drying. Instead, the forage is sun-cured, meaning it is left in the field to dry naturally in the sun to an acceptable moisture level before being baled and compressed.

Q: We have a miniature horse with dental issues and needs soft, fine not chopped hay, will this work?

1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Hi Classy, for dental issues we recommend the pelleted or cubed products sometimes even the grass hays are too fibrous for them to chew. The Timothy grass is a more palatable grass if you still want to use a compressed bale. You can reach out to customerservice@standlee.com for more questions or concerns
