This diet is a complete diet that contains 100% of the forage a horse needs per day. You can feed this as the sole diet to a horse without the need for hay and pasture or you can feed it with hay and pasture. When you are feeding Equine Senior as the sole diet then you would feed 1.3 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight or for a 1000 lb horse that is 13 lbs per day. If he is eating hay with this diet then for every 2 lbs of hay he consumes you can decrease the amount of Equine Senior by 1 lb or 0.6 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight. For a 1000 lb horse that would be 6 lbs. You should never go below 6 lbs of Equine Senior per day (for the average 1000lb horse) to insure the horse is receiving 100% of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients he needs per day. If your horse needs to gain weight you can increase the amount of feed by 10 to 15%. If you have done this then you can add additional Amplify to this diet to give her the extra calories she needs to gain and maintain her body condition.
