Rubbermaid Stock Tank Drain Plug, 5050-12 is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality This is the second one I've gotten and cannot get seated. It leaks and we will have to silicone around it.
Date published: 2019-08-02
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing O Ring The one we bought last night only had one O ring also - as another person reported. Not good. We reused one of the old ones from what we were replacing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing O'-Ring My stock tank had a badly cracked O'-Ring and I needed that replaced, all the water leaked out. I was unable to find just the O'-Ring I needed. That would have been cheaper and easier for me. There are 2 identical O'-Rings in the Drain Plug assembly, one out, one in. So I checked on line, called ahead to reserve the repair kit, and headed off to the nearest Tractor Supply. An employee handed me the kit, I did not notice that it had been taped shut until I got home. Bummer. The kit was missing an O'-Ring (What I needed and drove over 20 miles for.) I called Tractor Supply and the Manager said she would mail me an O'-ring that I could replace the 2nd O'ring with the next time I emptied and cleaned the stock tank. The new O'-Ring came in about 4 days. But, The uncracked (2nd) is holding water so I haven't changed it out yet. The repair kit works well but it was a major hassle. The manager who mailed me the 2nd O'-Ring that should have been in the kit was very nice.....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from tank drain fitting Same as the original drain fitting, so no problem replacing. However the original had 2 rubber gaskets, while the new one had only one. Used one of the old ones to keep a seal on both sides of the tank. Too bad they dont sell a drain valve with it instead of the plug.

Will this drain plug work on other rubber tank?

Asked by: Rosie 3
The drain plug will work with other Rubbermaid Stock Tanks but cannot say if it will work with "any" rubber tank

what tool do I need to use to open and close the drain plug.. I just got a replacement and the square top is so soft the corners are already chewed off.

Asked by: Icandoit
It would likely be best to use a pair of pliers. If you are trying to remove the plug altogether, remove the plastic nut on the inside with a wrench and tap the outside of the plug with a rubber mallet until the plug pops out.
