Metal Rods

Metal rods are essential hardware in both industrial and everyday applications, offering the strength and adaptability needed for a wide range of projects. Whether used to anchor a fence, reinforce a concrete pour or form the core of a custom build, these solid cylindrical bars are designed to deliver dependable performance under demanding conditions. Tractor Supply carries metal sheets, bars and rods in a range of sizes and materials to handle repair work and fabrication projects on the farm or around the house.

Durable Materials for Your Build

We carry metal rods to meet a wide variety of project needs, with options that span different materials, sizes and finishes. Our selection consists of steel and carbon steel for high strength, lightweight aluminum for easy fabrication and brass and copper for excellent conductivity and decorative appeal. Rods are available in multiple diameters and lengths, with options including rounds, square and threaded profiles to suit different uses. Explore our stock to find a variety of finishes to achieve the right balance of performance and appearance for your application.

Smooth Rods for Welding and Custom Fabrication

Most fabrication jobs start with a blank rod and a clear picture of what the finished piece needs to do. Un-threaded solid rods are exactly that: unmodified stock ready to be cut, shaped or welded into brackets, pins, handles or structural parts. Hot-rolled rod is the go-to for welding because its surface bonds well and withstands heat. Cold-rolled rod is made to tighter measurements, so it’s the better pick when a part must slide into a sleeve or meet another component at a precise fit.

Threaded Rod and Rebar for Structural Jobs

A coarse threaded rod is used to connect two points with a hold that can be adjusted after the fact. Because the threads run the full length of the shaft, a nut or coupler can be positioned anywhere along it. That makes it useful for hanging components, securing panels and building connections that may need to be tightened or repositioned later. Rebar is a grooved carbon-steel bar that is set into concrete before it cures. Once the concrete hardens around it, the ridges lock everything together, giving the finished slab the strength it wouldn’t have on its own.

Square Bar Stock for Frames and Brackets

A rounded rod has its place, but some jobs need a flat edge to work from. Square rods feature four flat sides and clean 90-degree corners, making it easier to clamp, align and weld without parts shifting. It cuts and finishes consistently, so it works well as a starting point for table legs, frames, brackets and gate hardware. The profile suits the kind of build where the right part doesn’t exist until you make it yourself.
