An outstanding grill! Some major improvements over the earlier Weber grill that I owned for over ten years! Use anthracite lump charcoal, an electric element starter, mesquite wood chips (soaked in water then drained), and a drip pan centered on the lower grate. Slow cook regulating airflow (aka ‘mass flow rate’ 🌟) through the grill, and adding mesquite when 70% cooked. Prepare for a delicious meal—beef, poultry, fish, and smoked vegetables. Grilling Tip: remove the dome as INFREQUENTLY as possible. Gourmet grilling is an art that requires patience and love for your family and guests. We advise not rushing the creative process. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. No potentially dangerous gas tanks, no lugging empty gas cylinders, no traveling with full gas cylinders (probably without in-vehicle safety restraints) in your personal vehicle, no use of toxic liquid fire starting fluids. When you are finished grilling, simply close the top and bottom air vents. Anthracite irregular-sized hard lump coal now starved of oxygen goes out reliably and safely.

Finally tried the new grill. Excellent!!! So glad I got it!!

This is my second Weber Original Kettle Premium Grill. The first one was a gift, and we used it for over 10 years. The old one finally failed, and we replaced it with this new one. Really love how easy it is to use and how easy it is to control the temperature with the built in thermometer. Only issues with the old one and eventually this new one is the built in ash scraper on the bottom rusts out and the aluminum legs/mounting tends to warp if your crazy brother-in-law puts in way too much charcoal! But for another 10+ years of use, it is great.

It is a good grill with simple components. The ash removal from the bottom is easy. The heat guard for the handle is insufficient to protect your hand for more than a few seconds. The hanger for the top is an internal hook designed to catch the edge of the bottom half of the grill. I found this difficult to use and would prefer an external basket or shelf.
