Standlee Alfalfa Mini Pellets, 40 lb. Bag

My elder horse has had to go on alfalfa pellets for weight and sustenance. I am pleased with the size and that she is actually eating

My 30 year old horse hasn't had functional teeth for over 6 years. Everything he consumes has to be soaked in water until it becomes a mash. The amount of time it would take to soak the regular sized pellets was between 2-4 hours depending on the outside temperature and water temp. I prefer to soak in cold water but it increases wait time. Hot water speeds up the process but makes it have a rancid smell and he seems less interested in it. Preparation of his meals used to be so time consuming. But I figured out that the mini pellets take only a quarter of the time to it took regular sized pellets to become soft enough to safely feed him.

I absolutely love these new mini pellets! For my young horses, the smaller pellet size is easier to chew. For my older mare these soak and break down faster than the original pellets.

This tractor supply is by far the best one. When they didn’t have a certain horse feed I needed, the manager went and looked for it in the back and brought me a bag. Forever grateful since my horse eats nothing but that certain brand.
