Forage is the most important component of a horse's diet and should be fed at a rate of 1.5-2.5% of a horse's body weight. Introduce Standlee Smart Carb Performance forage gradually into your horse's diet over seven to fourteen (7-14) days to replace up to 50% of forage in your horses diet. For example, a horse that is eating 20lbs of forage per day can be fed up to 10lbs of Smart Carb forage per day and 10lbs of another forage source. To reduce the risk of rapid consumption that can lead to digestive upset and choke, pellets are recommended to be soaked (2 parts water to 1 part pellet) for a minimum of 30 minutes or until the forage is softened to a soup-like consistency. Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse before soaking.

Standlee Smart carb Performance Pellets is designed to allow for an easy transition; however, we recommend gradually replacing existing hay with the same weight of Standlee forage over a seven to fourteen (7-14) day period to minimize digestive upset.
