Q: Will the pellets work as smoking wood in a regular smoker also do they fall apart if soaked?

- A: Generally if a grill or smoker calls for wood chips you would not want to use pellets as they are more compact and don't allow for as much airflow around them in those types of containers. You could maybe sprinkle a few in an open wood or charcoal fire but if the fire is over 250 degree they wont smoke or smolder much at all. Being highly compressed sawdust you definitely want to avoid moisture/humidity as they will decompress. My favorite store-bought brand of pellet.

I use these pellets in my Green Mountain Pellet Smoker. Far better than several other brands. Traeger pellets are a joke. I use this on almost every type of meat I smoke. I'm an offset stick burner purist when I have time, but when we have company coming and I have a busy work schedule, I roll out of pellets. I do find that if you use the lowest setting on your pellet smoker for the first 2 hours while using Pit Boss Hickory, you get a legit smoke ring and real flavor..
