Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Chicken Coop 5 Stars! This is a GREAT chicken coop. Well designed and very easy to put together. It comes crated and is very heavy. You need a truck and muscles to move it. I bought it for 3 birds, but I'd say it will fit up to 5 small sized chickens easily. It's heavy duty and built to last. I'm very happy with this purchase and for the money it's well worth it. I've researched lots of coops and this one is great. The roof has insulation but the coop does not, but the small space allows for the birds to stay warm together. I live in Upstate, New York and our Winters can be quite cold. I stopped using heat lamps because of safety reasons, so a smaller coop is a good thing. I totally recommend this coop for anyone looking to house a few chickens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely little coop Quick and easy to put together; maybe 45 minutes. Well built and just what we needed though a bit smaller than expected. One addition was to add a 2×4 inside each entrance to keep bedding from spilling out and also add reflective insulation to help with our cold WY winters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but well made. Whoever designed the coop thought it all out pretty well, as the doors and laying boxes are equipped with good hardware. The box is small though. I have 4 layers and it is crowded as they have a tough time jumping up to their roosts. I have to come up with a new feeding system as it needs to be inside here in the Northwest. Oh, and it is simple to put together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small, but sturdy and secure. I knew this was smaller but when it says for up to 5 chickens, dont think you will be able to squeeze in a 6th unless you have bantams. Aside from that, even though I am not the handiest of people, I was able to assemble this alone. Being on level ground can not be overstated though. It doesn't fit together correctly unless it is level so save yourself trouble and level it right out of the starting gate. While small, the doors are constructed to be very solid. The floor, walls and roof are strong as well and do not feel flimsy. However, a point of weakness is the window which would probably be easy to push in or break if closed. If open the screen would pop out for a predator to gain easy entry. This can be corrected with hardware cloth so not a huge deal. It's nice to look at and I think it will last for some time. I got it on sale and still felt the price was a little steep. But, I would not have been able to build it on my own but assembling it solo was not a big deal.

Is the wood strong and weatherized? How long will this coop last and can it sub stain jerseys crazy weather?

Asked by: Whitney2411
The siding is LP Smartpanel, which is the best in its class. It is pre-primed then painted with Sherwin Williams paint. The roof is metal, which holds up longer than shingles.

Is there an enclosure for the chickens under the hutch? The picture shows a space but I can't tell if it's enclosed. And, is there a tray for cleaning the floor?

Asked by: Kuehling
We do have wire panels as an additional add on, they are installed around the bottom to allow chickens to go underneath, this is only recommended if a wire pen/run is attached to it. As for cleaning the floor, there is not a tray, but it is easy to clean out as designed.

Where do you recommend putting food and water inside the coop?  There’s not much room.

Asked by: Anna7770
While you can keep small feeder and water inside hanging from the rafters, you may want to keep it outside if the chickens are free range.
