Q: what is the coverage rate. thank you Kevin
8 years ago1 Answer
- A: Realizing it is difficult to accurately measure square footage on a tractor (or other such project), square footage still seems to be the best understood unit of measurement to determine a coverage rate. All products, of all manufacturers, have a “theoretical” coverage rate printed on the label, and/or on the Tech Data Sheet – as does the Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamels Tech Data Sheets. “Theoretical” is as it implies – theoretical. There is generally no allowance for waste, and therefore, the end-user probably won’t actually realize the stated rate. The theoretical rate is based on what “dried film thickness” (DFT) the product will perform at an optimal level. For example: The optimal DFT, for Majic T&I Enamel to provide the highest level of protection, durability and appearance, is approximately 2.6 mils dry (over a bare, or primed, surface). At 50% solids, by volume, a 2.6 mil dry film thickness (DFT) would require 1 coat applied at 5.2 mils wet, which would then dry down to 2.6 mils dry (50% solids means that the other 50% is evaporative solvent). 5.2 mils is too heavy an application of Majic T&I Enamels, and would adversely affect the dry, & cure time of the applied enamel – so, it is then recommended to apply 2 coats at 2.5 mils wet, each, to achieve 1.3 mils DFT (per coat), or 2.6 mils DFT in a 2 coat system. When any paint (theoretically) is applied at 2.5 mils wet, the spread rate will = 642 square feet per gallon (1604/.025) - Within the industry, a waste allowance of approximately 15% is usually considered for spray application (less for brush & roll) – applying a waste allowance for spray, the spread rate becomes approximately 545 square feet per gallon.8 years agoHelpful?

wear proof on concrete floor.
wear proof on concrete floor. Got a qt to test on the warehouse floors for pallet storage area it's been down 3 weeks and they haven't worn it off yet. we will be paint more line in different colors very soon now that the test shows it is as good ( i think better) than the floor paint sold at twice the price. You got to use the hardner and follow the directions!
