what hardiner and reducer do you use with this rust oleum ford blue

Asked by: Anonymous
Good question! Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint is a ready-to-use product that doesn’t require an additive. If you are applying with a paint sprayer, you can use acetone to help thin if desired. We don't recommend adding any additional additives since it can affect the product’s performance and drying time.

Do you think that this would be last on a smoker with the heat? If it lasted a year I would be happy.

Asked by: Ronny Finch
Happy to clear things up, Ronny! While Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint is great for exterior metal surfaces, this product is not intended for use on surfaces that reach temperatures above 200°F since this type of environment will cause the coating to blister and peel. For metal surfaces that reach temperatures above 200°F, we recommend Rust-Oleum Specialty High Heat Spray Paint instead! https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rust-oleum-specialty-ultra-high-heat-12-oz-spray-black?cm_vc=-10005 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

I have a ford that I am painting, I have never painted before. Not looking for show quality, I use tractor, to I need to use primer, or can I just spray the color a couple of times?

Asked by: SingingMatt
Great question, Matt! If the tractor has an intact coating on the surface and is free from rust, a primer is not necessary prior to applying our Specialty Farm & Implement Paint. We recommend scuff-sanding the surface with 220 grit sandpaper to ensure proper adhesion. For the best adhesion, coverage, and rust prevention, our Red Oxide Metal Primer is an excellent primer if painting a bare or rusty metal surface: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rust-oleum-specialty-farm-implement-red-oxide-metal-primer-1-gal
