Does this paint require bare metal to be primed or will it adhere without primer

Asked by: ACWD
Majic Tractor, Truck & Equipment Enamels are hard-drying, industrial oil/alkyd coatings designed for maximum adhesion and corrosion resistance. These enamels will adhere to bare metal without a primer, and they will provide a degree of protection… However, this is NOT a system we recommend. An application of a rust-inhibitive primer, followed by 1 or 2 coats of Tractor & Implement Enamel provides far greater corrosion resistance, and a longer lifespan than will just a couple coats of finish enamel. Primer also provides a base foundation for a smoother finish with a more continual gloss, and appearance more comparable to that of a professional application. For best results always read, and follow, label application directions. Apply product in thin coats, and allow a full 24 hours to dry between coats, or before top-coating.

Is this Persian Orange, Persian Orange 2 or Corporate Orange. need orange for 61 and older Allis

Asked by: Hotrod56
Unfortunately, our AC Orange matches Allis Chalmers Orange (Corporate Orange), and is a brighter, cleaner orange than Persian #1 or #2. Persian Orange #1, is the choice for tractors made prior to 1961.

If brushing, should/can a catalyst hardener be used to add to shine and durability? What type of thinner should be used also, or is it not recommended?

Asked by: KyTimster
For brush application, the manufacturer recommends reducing product with Majic Reducer, #8-0750, at a rate between 5-10%. The addition of Majic Reducer will allow for better "flow and leveling" and a more friendly application (less brush drag). The hardener will not add to shine or durability. The benefit to using a catalyst is increased hardness, a slight increase in gloss, and accelerated film curing.

For spraying applications do you need to thin this out? Is this close to RAL 2004 Color?

Asked by: Alan P
For spray application it is recommended to thin (reduce) with Majic Reducer, # 8-0750, at a ratio of 8:1. AC Orange is very close to RAL 2004; AC Orange may be just slightly darker and more red.

i was wondering if this will match an 85 simplicity orange

Asked by: aea1
While it seems that many within the restoration community substitute AC Orange for Simplicity Red-Orange, it's not really that close of a match. Both AC & Kubota Orange are quite a bit brighter than Simplicity (Simplicity tends to run a little on the brown-ish side). Simplicity colors are just not that easy to come by. So, if you are looking to repaint your entire tractor, you may find that AC Orange is close enough. However, if you are only looking to touch-up damaged, or dinged areas, paint attachments, trailers, or other implements to be used in conjunction with your Simplicity Tractor, you will likely be disappointed with the match.
