- A: Hi Neighbor To properly prepare a surface for Majic 1 gal. Oliver Green Tractor Truck & Implement Enamel Paint, thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt, grease, and rust, then sand it down to bare metal or rough up existing finishes. Q: Is there any reason this paint won't work well on WOOD? I painted an Adirondack chair already (wrong color) but the paint seems hard, glossy and durable.
4 years ago1 Answer
- A: Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamels are very hard-drying oil/alkyd coatings that are designed for application to steel and metal surfaces, providing excellent adhesion, durability and corrosion resistance. Application to wood is NOT recommended as the film dries too rigid to accommodate the naturally occurring expansion and contraction of exposed wood (and specifically T1-11 plywood). An applied film of Majic Tractor & Implement Enamel to such substrates would result in film cracking, and ultimate peeling from surface.4 years agoHelpful?

Q: Do you recommend a reduced and Hardner when using this paint?
6 years ago1 Answer
- A: Majic Tractor & Implement Enamels are hard-drying, rust-inhibitive, oil/alkyd enamels – the use of a Catalyst Hardener (Majic Catalyst Hardener, #8-0950) is strictly optional, but increased film hardness & accelerated curing will result with it’s use. Please be sure to read, and follow, all label directions (and precautions) regarding mixing, safety & disposal when working with Majic Catalyst Hardener. The mix ratio for Majic Catalyst Hardener is 16:1 (16 parts Majic T&I Enamel to 1 part Majic Catalyst Hardener) - Do not convert more product than can be applied within 8 hours of mixing. Regarding Reducer: Majic T&I Enamels are very tough, and durable, high solid products, that may be applied by brush, roller or spray. For brush & roller application, may be used full-body, though a 5-10% reduction, with Majic Reducer #8-0750, will aid in the film’s flow & leveling, plus help to control the recommended applied thickness of 2.5 mils wet. For spray application, material should be reduced at an 8:1 ratio (8 parts Majic T&I Enamel to 1 part Majic Reducer) – this is necessary for proper atomization, and to minimize (or eliminate) “orange-peel” texture. Please remember when working with Majic Tractor & Implement Primers & Enamels that product be applied in thin coats, and allow 24 hours to dry (minimum) before applying next coat. Product applied too heavily, and/or re-coated too soon may result in a film that won’t dry “hard” for several days…or longer.6 years agoHelpful?
Q: hello - does this enamel paint need to thinned out so it can be used in a paint gun , if yes what do you use to thin it out with - thanks
8 years ago1 Answer
- A: When spraying Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel, the product should be thinned for best atomization, best flow & leveling and as a best means to control the applied thickness of Majic T&I Paints. For best results, we recommend thinning (reducing) only with Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamels with Majic Reducer, #8-0750, at an 8:1 ratio (8 parts Majic T&I Enamel to 1 part Majic Reducer). Majic Reducer is a proprietary blend of “exempt” solvents, that add -0- VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) to the host product. Majic Reducer is also a perfect solvent for T&I Enamels as this blend is the same as what is already found in Majic T&I products – and no foreign components are introduced into the film. We'd also like to remind you that once the product has been reduced for application, material needs to be applied in thin coats (recommended 2.5 mils wet), then allow a full 24 hours to dry between coats. We hope this helps!8 years agoHelpful?

This paint is junk
This paint is garbage. It doesn't harden up. Two weeks after application it is still soft and can be scraped off with your fingernail. This was applied to brand new, clean steel on a trailer. Waste of time and money. The lady at TS claims you need to put hardener in it even though it says it's not needed and completely optional on the can. Don't waste your money, and more importantly your time.

Horrible!
Worst paint I have ever used. I have tried it on both metal and wood, same problems. 24 hours later the paint is not dry. Weeks later the paint is soft and can come right off.
Spend the extra 25 percent for the other brand. Even the drops on my dropcloth don’t dry out in 24 hours.
Magic paint magically never dries!
Never Dries! Never Hardens!
