Red onions are easy to grow, making them excellent for beginner gardeners! Their beautiful red hue and mild to sweet flavor make them perfect for pickling, salads, or tossing on your burgers. These onions perform best in well-drained, slightly acidic, fertile soil in full sun. For green table onions, plant the sets so they are nearly touching, and then harvest every other one when the tops reach 6" tall. Dry bulbs will be ready for harvest in August or September. Guaranteed to Grow* Product must be purchased before June 1st. Sales receipt and UPC required. For refund, please go to: https://retail.degroot-inc.com/guarantee.

Good as fresh onions.

Planted in early Feb 2025 in a raised bed. They were a little slow to start as it was still cool, but then came up and grew well. Was able to harvest over time like a green scallion, used the leaves and all of the for stir fries and salads. Great sliced thin with tomatoes and balsamic vinegar/olive oil. Was letting the rest form heads, and they did get bigger, but as the tops started to die back, rotted and lost some. Pulled the rest up to use. Not the fault of the variety, north Fla 90s temps, high humidity and rain almost every day means nothing will dry. Going to try a fall planting to see if it will be dry enough to harvest mature bulbs.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Dear RShs, Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed review! It’s great to hear the plants grew well and provided a steady harvest for fresh use in your cooking—your tomato and balsamic combo sounds delicious. You’re absolutely right that the extreme heat, humidity, and rain in North Florida can make late-season harvesting a challenge. We appreciate your understanding and we wish you even more success with your next crop! If there is anything you would recommend us improving, please contact us at (269) 468-6714 or [email protected]. Thank you, DeGroot Inc. DeGroot
