The Hoover's Hatchery Live Black Sex-Link Baby Chicks are excellent brown egg layers created by crossing a Barred Rock hen and a Rhode Island Red cockerel. This creates a very versatile bird that is a great egg layer, has the temperament of a Barred Plymouth Rock and can hold its own through the cold-dark winter. These sweet, friendly chickens tolerate heat and cold weather well. Black sex-link chickens also do well in confinement and are great foragers. Whether putting together your first backyard coop or you're already a seasoned chicken caretaker, these black sex-link chicks are a great choice.

- A: Hi! There is no way to know as we don’t even look at the sex of the birds in an unsexed order. Over the long haul of all birds, the ratio is about 50-50. However any one order or hatch can be heavy on one or the other.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: I'm only wanting female chick's but the only purchaseable quantity is only unsexed. Since they're sex linked, does that mean that selection is a male and female mix instead of just females? Why an I not being allowed to just purchase the females?
