Some arrived dead

The chickens were shipped and sent to processing center one day then sent to my local post office. They called me in the morning but I didn't see the call until the afternoon. I went to pick them up, waited in line for 30 minutes. They couldn't find the chickens. They called the lady who had called me in the morning and couldn't get her. Then another lady went back to the shipping dock and looked. We were there probably two hours. The mailman took my number and said he would call me if they found them. He called at 7:00 so I asked if he could wait for me but he said they were closing. I told him they needed to be warm and food and water and he said they'd be fine. I was there when they opened Saturday morning and one was dead and four of them were weak. We tried nursing them all day. By next morning 4 more had died and one more was weak and not eating or drinking unless I gave it by medicine dropper. The postman that morning said they should have been mailed express not priority. It was heartbreaking. The four others are fine but what a waste of time and money. Also I had signed up for text notifications about when chickens were shipped and never got them.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This is the first year we ordered road island red with our golden comet chicks. They arrived as expected. This is our 4 th year ordering as they are great year round. Lay eggs frequently and have minimum maintenance.

This was our first order with Hoover’s Hatchery and while we unfortunately had a few birds that didn’t make it, their customer service was absolutely outstanding. As soon as we reached out, they responded quickly and didn’t just replace the birds we lost — they replaced the entire order of 10. The replacement shipment arrived promptly, and I’m happy to say that all of the chicks arrived healthy and are now thriving. Mistakes can happen with live shipments, but how a company handles them matters, and Hoover’s went above and beyond. We truly appreciate the care, professionalism, and commitment to their customers.
