Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pine Tar- miracle hoof magic! I have been using the Brickmore Pine Tar for the last 2 years on my three horses. I originally got it to try on my Quarter Horse who has had hoof issues since I purchased him as a 4 yr old. His hooves become chipped and cracked during the hot, humid months of summer. He is a pasture kept horse. Being in the dewey, wet grass every evening through morning then out in hot, dry heat all day takes a real toll on his hooves. Trying to keep his shoes on became impossible. I am an avid trail rider so it is a must that he be kept shod. After years of supplements and other hoof topical treatments I finally tried the Pine Tar after doing some research on just what would help him. Pine Tar has been a miracle treatment for him. It has done more to keep his hooves in great condition than any other product I have tried. I love the affordable price as well. It has worked so well for him that I now use it on all three of horses. It keeps their hooves from drying, cracking and splitting and also provides antibacterial qualities as well. It keeps the perfect moisture balance in their hooves and helps them to retain their shoes. My farrier has been impressed with the results I have had using this product on my horses. I highly recommend Pine Tar to all my trail riding friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best hoof maintenance product. I like this the best when it comes to dry hoofs. Living on the East Coastal area of MA we all know how the white hoofs can dry out and crack. Thanks to this product I have never had a bad crack or a quarter crack. This is Farrier recommended to me. Been using it for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wood finish! Mixed 50/50 with turpentine, this makes a great wood finish for such things as tool handles, gun stocks, etc. It really brings out the wood grain and preserves the wood much better than varnish or boiled linseed oil will.

Is this pine tar closed kiln or open kiln produced?

Asked by: Paulajane
The manufacturer did not release that information to our supplier. That being said, most people who ask the same question do so with the intention to make soap or other products to be used on humans. This product is strictly for equine use only.

Is this creosote free? Since I'll be handling it, I'd prefer to know if it contains carcinogenic materials. Closed kiln pine tar is usually creosote free.

Asked by: Mickey9
We cannot guarantee that our Pine Tar is creosote free because creosote is an inherent part of the process of making pine tar. This pine tar is veterinary grade and is made to be used on horse’s hooves.
