Q: We have charged the 2 mile solar fence charger for about 5-6 days in full sunlight. We connected it to our fence and turned it on and there is no light blinking and no clicking sound when it’s turned on. Is this fencer defective.

- A: We recommend a minimum of 4000-5000 volts on a fence line to deter deer. This energizer can output approximately 8000 volts under no load. Q: i have charged 3 days no power then on fifth day 5-6000 volts then next day dead no charge i have used chargers for 30 years but cant get this one going its new an trying to see if its something im doing before i take it back

I recently purchased this electric fence controller to keep my cows out of my garden and fruit orchard until I could get a permanent fence built. It is doing a great job. I would recommend this product to anyone, unless you are attempting to control bears, rhino, elephants or whales.

Good But Could Be Better

A good start for what I need it for. The only problem that irritates me is the under-powered LED that flashes to indicate the charger is working. This indicator is not visible during day light hours. You have to wait until sunset before you can see the indicator.

I bought this charger approximately five years ago, because I work with dog rescue. My own small dogs, plus temporary visitors, would sometimes try to jump on the retaining wall or push under the fence to get loose. I live in Southern California, and wanted a solar charger that I could connect, and not have to plug in. The film over the solar screen is flaking off, but It's been outdoors, in the HOT California sun, 24 hours a day, since I bought it. I just used the electric fence tester to verify that the fence is working, and I verified that it's still going strong! Well worth the money.

Great, but does not last long enough

I had two of these that I bought a few years ago. The first one made it a season and a half, and the second one died after the second season. I treated these units right by hanging them properly and storing them in the basement for the winter when I did not need to use them. I will be buying another brand from now on.
No, I do not recommend this product.

The batteries in our solar chargers have an average life span of 3-4 years. We do recommend removing the battery from the charger when storing for the winter, but other factors can affect the life of the battery as well. Replacement batteries are available.

Quite disappointing

I bought this to charge the top of a fence surrounding a dog pen 20' x 30'. The previous charger was a standard AC powered unit and did a great job until the power line ceased.
The 2-mile solar charger requires placement in a 'sheltered area' where it will NOT get too much sunlight. That is unacceptable for a Solar Charger!
The grounding instructions require you to place 3 each 8 foot rods in the ground. The unit has a very small battery and a slow recovery rate.
I haven't tried the larger Solar Charger but it should be better than this one.
This unit has minimal functionality today.
No, I do not recommend this product.
