Q: what are the ingredients? Is there a binder that helps hold the cube together? What cubes are made for rabbits?

1 Answer
  • Standlee® Product Expert
A: Standlee Premium Western Forage pellets and cubes are produced through a process that begins with the coarse grinding of a 4x4x8 bale of forage. The forage is then compressed through a large die using heat and steam to form the final product. Bentonite is added to cubes to help prevent crumbling. Standlee does not manufacture cubes specifically for rabbits.

Q: what is the ratio of water to cubes for soaking.

1 Answer
  • A: Standlee recommends that pelleted and cubed forage not be the sole source of forage for horses since feeding some long stem forage (hay) may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices. Feed Standlee at a rate of 2.0% of body weight per day. Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee over a 7-10 day period. For horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed, Standleeis recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water (2 parts water to 1 part pellet or cube) for 30 minutes or until properly softened. Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses.

One Great Product Leads to Another!

My 30 year old QH mare is a picky eater. She enjoys Standlee beet pulp pellets, mixed with rice bran, which I feed to keep the weight on. The Standlee pellets are excellent in quality and easy to scoop up. When the offer came for the trial month on forage products, I thought I’d give it a try. On day two, she was nickering for more! She has two big bowls (bran and timothy/ alfalfa mix, both softened with water, in addition to pasture, hay and senior feed daily. She eats like a horse! My farrier said it’s a good sign when palominos get dapples; that they are getting good nutrition. She certainly has both!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Putting Healthy Weight on an Older Gelding

My older horse had fecal water and he lost a good amount of weight last winter. The vet recommended Timothy alfalfa pellets. I started adding three pounds of soaked pellets a day to his feed and I'm very happy with his progress! It's economical and he's looking great again. And no more gross fecal water.

Yes, I recommend this product.
