What's the difference between safechoice maintenance and triumph 12 percent pellets. What is the calorie difference between the two

Asked by: Ann lindstrom
Hello, Thanks for the question. SafeChoice Maintenance has slightly higher levels of key amino acids, more biotin, as well as guaranteed levels of probiotics. SafeChoice Maintenance is slightly lower in calories, about 100 kcal/lb less, and also is a little lower in sugar. Hope this helps!

Did company start putting molasses in this feed? Is it still safe for ir and ppid horses?

Asked by: Jen37
Hello, Thank you for the question. This product has always had a small amount of molasses in it. What you should be looking at in terms of dietary requirements for horses with metabolic issues is the total dietary starch + sugar levels (or "NSC"), as many different ingredients are sources of starch and sugar beyond just molasses. For this product, those levels have always been 20% dietary starch and 5% sugar, or 25% NSC. For IR and PPID horses, we would actually recommend SafeChoice Special Care, or if you have very easy keepers, the Empower Topline Balance. Both products have much lower levels of dietary starch and sugar. We hope this information is helpful!

Hello. I have a minnie donkey his weight is 67 pounds but I am not sure what 's the right amount of nutrena for him. Can you please h elp me with that? Also, I have two pet goats ,and I was Wondering if they can eat the same food as my donkey?

Asked by: Lidiam
Hello, Thanks for the question. The feeding rate of SafeChoice Maintenance for your mini donkey would be 0.25 lbs per day. For your goats, they should not be on a feed designed for horses - horse feeds contain too much copper for the goats, which over time can have very serious consequences.

I have always feed a pallet feed and just starting feeding a little sweet feed have always been afraid of colic what are my chances of colic with this feed

Asked by: steve30
Hello, Thank you for the question! First, just to clarify, the SafeChoice Maintenance Horse Feed is a pelleted feed, not a sweet feed. In regards to colic, things you should consider are feeding rate (keeping it low to moderate, or feeding more smaller feedings per day if a lot is needed to maintain weight), starch levels (low to moderate levels), and sudden changes in feed. Generally speaking, colic from feed is due to feeding mis-management, not the feed itself. A sudden change in feed (or hay!), or a sudden significantly larger than normal meal size, are far more likely to cause colic than a regular feeding of just about any feed on the market. In regards to the SafeChoice Maintenance product, it is a moderate starch feed, at a moderate calorie level that should allow most maintenance horses to consume a safe amount of feed that should not be any cause for concern. We hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further questions.
