Drop this convenient, lightweight horse hay block of compressed high-quality grass and alfalfa hay into water to create palatable, moist hay. Alfalfa hay for horses is recommended for all horses at all life stages. Each block only weighs about 2 pounds, so they are easy to carry, feed and travel with. The stress of travel can cause many horses to struggle with proper water intake when on the road. With Hydration Hay® Horse Hay Blocks, your horse can receive consistent, quality forage and proper hydration at the same time. After numerous scientific formulations, trials and refinements, we've found a way to deliver consistent, quality nutrition in a lightweight, convenient and easy-to-feed compressed block horses just love.

Soaking Directions: Place one 2 lb. Hydration Hay Horse Hay Block in a large bucket; Add a minimum of 5 quarts of water; Allow product to absorb water prior to feeding (approximately 10 minutes); To facilitate more uniform absorption, flip the hay block halfway through soaking time; Additional mixing by hand may further accelerate water absorption
Horse hay is designed to replace a portion or all of the forage in a horse's diet
If replacing all forage in a horse's diet, be sure to feed at a minimum rate of 1.0 to 1.2% of body weight (10-12 lb./ 5-6 blocks for a 1,000 lb. horse) with 2.0% of body weight preferred
Replace forage on a 1:1 ratio
Each 2 lbs of dry hay can be replaced with one 2-lb dry Hydration Hay Horse Hay Block
Inadequate amounts of forage may lead to colic and other digestive disturbances

wonderful for the older horse who cannot chew well

I've been giving this to my 32 year old horse who can no longer efficiently chew dried forage (regular hay) along with his soaked alfalfa pellets. He is gaining weight back, and his digestive troubles have eased. Be sure to soak as directed. It's quick, easy, and while it costs a bit more than conventional hay, it's worth knowing your horse is getting nutrition and hydration they need in one easy preparation.

I did buy this once and that was enough. Although it is more expensive than hay cubes, it takes it forever to soak up water. My horses eat hay cubes soaked in water with much more enthusiasm than the hydration hay. Also, there is a choice of hay types in hay cubes; my horses prefer alfalfa/oat hay cubes. The hydration hay is an unnecessary product looking for a market that is already supplied by regular hay cubes that are cheaper and soak up water more quickly.

Excellent product. My horses love it. Given the choice between Hydration Hay and grain, they will always go to the Hydration Hay first. I got this product for a horse who was dropping wads of hay from his mouth. He can eat the Hydration hay with ease and he is gaining weight. The only drawback is, they can't keep it in stock at my Tractor Supply store and I almost always have to have it ordered online. Price could be a bit lower but if you have the horse that needs it, it is worth it. I think it would be great compact way to take hay when you travel.
