looking to paint a farm truck with this. Anyone have any tips? prep? smoothness isn't as important as rust prevention, roller or brush? any tips will be appreciated

Asked by: flattop44
We like how you think! Before applying Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm & Implement Paint, make sure to remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt, and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or another suitable cleaning method. Mold and mildew must be cleaned with a chlorinated cleaner or bleach solution. Then rinse with fresh water and allow to thoroughly dry. For steel, make sure to scrape and wire brush or power tool clean to remove loose rust, scale, and deteriorated coatings. To apply the product, use a good quality natural or polyester bristle brush or a natural or polyester cover roller. If you decide to use a roller, use a short nap (¼”) roller for smooth surfaces, and a medium nap (⅜”) roller for rough surfaces. You can also use a sprayer to apply this product as well. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

does the surface need to be primed before using this or does it act as paint and primer in one?

Asked by: KC Ranch
Happy to clear things up! While a primer isn't absolutely necessary with Rust-Oleum Specialty Farm and Implement Paint, you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes in most projects. Primers make colors pop, help topcoats go on more efficiently and prepare surfaces like bare wood, metal, and rust before painting.
