Pricey but worth it....

Mare out of pasture on forage and costal hay at 8 to 9 months into pregnancy. Started with one pound twice a day for a few days with free access to costal hay. With no problems noted increased to 2 pounds twice a day for a week and now three pounds. No sign of problems. Vet suggests taking her up to 8 pounds a day and to 10 pounds a day after foaling for about a month and then a slow reduction. She is just short of 15 hands and about 1200 pounds right now. This is going to get expensive but worth it to get a healthy foal.

MARE AND FOAL WATCH OUT

This feed is not what it is cracked up to be - is not nearly as good as other more expensive brands - you get what you pay for I guess. Beware - of starting any new feed with your horse(s) that the dealer will always have this feed in stock - as with my TSC store ran out and wont' have any more until next Weds., IF it even gets on the truck - had to switch feeds, no warning, no roll over time - lets hope noone gets sick over it, colics, or dies. Nutrena ALL STOCK 12% should NEVER be fed to horses(although it says for horses) - not if you want to keep your horse healthy -

Foals were not a fan

Mares liked it, foals took over a week before they would eat even close to what they would eat of the sweet feed mare and foal feed I normally got.

Very disappointing quality lately

Lately this feed has WAY too much moisture in it. I keep it in an air tight container with a big moisture absorber tub and it is still getting moldy by half way through the bag. Very disappointing.

Great product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been feeding mare and foal to our 2 yearlings for a month now. They have shed out all slick and shiny. My fillies coat was full when I fist got her and now she looks like she has gold flecks in her coat. Very happy with the complete nutrition this feed provides for our growing youngsters.

Yes, I recommend this product.
