I'm a firm believerI'm a firm believer in the Mare and foal supplemental feed. I have used it on our last 3 foals. All have been big and healthy. The broodmares dont get drug down from feeding and stay in good flesh. I noticed also when the foals shed off they Are slick and shine.

Orphan coltI am fostering an orphan mustang. He was slow to accept this feed (he loves his milk replacer), but he is growing stronger everyday thanks in part to Safe Choice Mare & Foal.

Great feedMy mare and colt love it! Feed is very clean and not dusty.
how much should you feed of this grain, to a mare who is 6 months pregnant? or should I wait to switch her during her last trimester?
Asked by: kaylee2018
Hello, Thanks for the question! You can feed the SafeChoice Mare & Foal feed throughout gestation, and just increase the amount as your mare reaches that last trimester. The feeding rate for the first part of her pregnancy is 0.25-0.5 lbs per 100 lbs of bodyweight, which is 2.5 to 5 lbs per day for a 1,000 lb horse. Once she reaches that last trimester, then it bumps up to 0.5-1.0 lbs per 100 lbs of bodyweight, or 5-10 lbs per day for a 1,000 lb horse. Find the feeding rate in there that maintains her in the correct body condition, along with good quality hay or pasture. Hope that helps, let us know if you have further questions!
