Mature Horses: Feed from a minumum of 4 lb of feed per 1,000 lb of body weight per day - up to free choice. Feed grass or free choice hay with fresh water and salt available at all times. Lactating Mares or Breeding Stallions: Feed a minumum of 4 lb of feed per 1,000 lb of body weight per day - up to free choice. Feed grass or free choice hay with fresh water and salt available at all times. Increase feed by 2 extras pounds per day during the last 90 days of gestation through the first 60 days of lactation. Nursing or Weaned Foals: Offer feed free choice up to 4 lb per day. Feed grass or free choice hay with fresh water and salt available at all times. Growing Foals: Feed at the rate of mature horses. When changing over to Total Equine, feed only hay and water for 24 hours, then feed Total Equine at the recommended rate. Do not mix with other grain products. Offer free choice salt to horses at all times. Have clean, fresh water available at all times. Only feed high quality hay. Feed your horses at regular times. Let horses feed at all positions of horse head height and lower. If your horse is excited, feverish, hot, has diarrhea or is showing any pain, reduce or delay feeding. Observe your horse's condition daily and consult with a veterinarian if any problems arise. Maintain an internal parasite control program. Common colic, founder and choke can occur under many circumstances. If any of these problems occur, obtain immediate veterinary assistance. Provide plenty of clean water, correct all dental problems and prevent the bolting of feed to help minimize these dangers. Choke (blocking of the esophagus) may occur if chewing and or salivation is insufficient. Horses that are chronic to choke should receive a thorough medical examination and adherence to the veterinarian's recommendations. Store Total Equine in a clean, dry space that is well protected from insects and rodents. Do not feed moldy or insect infested feed to animals as it may cause sickness or death.
